She is drawn in adire indigo and bogolan mudcloth, among rattan chairs, beaded curtains, woven baskets and monstera leaves. Nothing has been pre-shaded. No gray on her skin. No black filled into her hair. Every coil, loc, braid and twist is drawn as a large open shape, waiting for whatever brown, whatever gold, whatever color you decide belongs there.
