About The Paper Riot Store
We believe that art therapy should be a source of relaxation, not frustration.
Our Story
The Paper Riot Store was born out of a simple frustration: adult coloring books were becoming too complicated. During the peak of the coloring book craze, every page seemed to be a microscopic mandala or a dizzying, intricate landscape. Instead of feeling relaxed, colorists were experiencing eye strain, hand cramps, and the stress of trying to stay inside hair-thin lines.
Founder and author K. Terry decided it was time to strip away the complexity and return coloring to its therapeutic roots. The result was a catalog of "bold and easy" coloring books. By prioritizing thick, dark outlines and large, spacious shapes, we created an experience that delivers instant gratification and deep relaxation.
Designed for Accessibility
Our commitment to the bold and easy format isn't just an aesthetic choice; it's an accessibility mission. We quickly learned that our books were providing immense joy to communities often overlooked by traditional publishers:
- Seniors and those with low vision, who finally had a large-print option they could see clearly without reading glasses.
- Individuals with arthritis, who appreciated the generous spaces that require less precision and a looser grip on the pen.
- Busy adults seeking quick stress relief without the commitment of a multi-day project.
The Brown Sugar Collection
As The Paper Riot Store grew, K. Terry recognized a profound lack of diversity in the adult coloring space. This inspired the creation of The Brown Sugar Collection, a dedicated line of premium African American coloring books. This collection celebrates Black women, families, soul food, and culture, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the art they color.
Our Promise to You
When you purchase a book from The Paper Riot Store, you are guaranteed a high-quality, stress-free experience. We are uncompromising on our single-sided printing and black backing pages, ensuring that your vibrant markers never ruin a design. We promise to keep creating art that brings you peace.
